Reminders | Be more spontaneous

I'm not particularly spontaneous, but spontaneous people are some of my favourites, I admire them.

I tend to think too much about the next thing to do. I think about ridiculous little things, every consequence and so on. It makes me feel in control and I guess I fear losing that. But last week someone said to me 'Everything that you will earn in life is on the other side of that fear', which makes total sense so I really want to start learning to overcome my fears.

I don't even think I like routines but when the opportunity for some spontaneity comes I just can't say 'yes' and I would really just like to say 'yes' to some random opportunities and go with the flow.
I'm the worst at saying 'yes' to last-minute invitations, I hesitate and end up convincing myself I need to do something else.

I remember I felt good on the occasions I allowed myself to be spontaneous and I want more of that in my life.
I want to learn to enjoy and have fun without thinking too much. I want to try different things, taking a risk, step away from my comfort zone. I want to just do something and see where it takes me

So let's

This is my task for the week.
I feel it will bring me more joy

Are you the spontaneous kind of people? Or not really?

Reminders | Be yourself

When 'be yourself' got stuck in my mind and I was like 'ok, this is going to be the next reminder', the first thing that came up to me was to read the reminders Love yourself more and Say what you think because I felt they had to do with it. But I realized I wasn't exactly thinking about the message 'be yourself' when I wrote them so here I am actually thinking and writing about it today.

How often do you not say or do something because you're worried about what others may think? In the past weeks I've been thinking a lot about it and came to the conclusion I do it more often than I'd like.

How much me I am? How many times do I neglect myself to please others and fit in? Do I show myself as I am? And what about you?

I don't want to live by others standards. I really need to stop looking for approval and trying to please everyone. I want to live without worrying too much about how I appear to others and what they might think or say about me. Because I've already realized I'm not happy in that way.

In the past weeks I've noticed changes in the way I see myself and I'm loving it. I'm starting to build up self-confidence and self-love, which leads me to believe in myself and I've never felt so empowered.

Things are becoming clearer and little by little I'm starting to know and accept myself. I didn't wake up filled up with confidence, I'm working on it and I think it's all about prioritizing ourselves and saying 'ok, I need to focus more on myself and just be exactly who I want'.

Am I weird? Ok, I'm going to embrace that weirdness. There's really no need to be ashamed to like what you like or not like what others do, don't be afraid to be who you are. To songs, clothes, movies, food, dreams and everything else.

So in case you hadn't already guessed, this week's reminder is

Reminders | Let it go

'Let it go', that popular phrase that became even more popular after Frozen, that by the way I didn't watch yet.

I always saw this phrase all over the internet and thought 'yeah okay, but how do I do it'. I guess I just assumed I wasn't capable of doing such thing, that it wasn't possible. But, luckily, things have changed!

I can't say I fully understand it yet, but I'm here to tell you that it's possible and I made it.

How easy do you let things go? Well, I find it to be a hard task to do and I guess it's because we collect memories and they make us feel attached to moments.

Months ago I would spend too much time thinking about the past and wishing for a brighter future, but I was doing nothing at the present to create that future. I was so attached do the past and the bad things that I couldn't enjoy the now.

Right now I  don't find myself in the past anymore. I wish I had a step-by-step guide to share with you, but I don't. I guess I just decided it was about time do let things go and now they are gone. I realized I had a choice.

Now I understand that there's no need to hold on to things that hurt me (daaah!). Those things won't take me anywhere and they were just occupying space on my mind and stopping me to live. Now I understand that some things need to go in order to others come. We need to make space for new and happy things.

I feel that starting the blog helped me. When I wrote that first post I was finally expressing everything I wanted and putting it out there. That text wasn't just on my mind anymore and I guess that helped.

So, if you are holding on to any past things, please

Try it. Say to yourself 'Got no time for this anymore, I want to let it go', write about what you want to let go and see what happens

Happy Monday :)

Reminders | Say what you think

Happy Monday and Happy Week!!

This week's reminder is about voicing our thoughts.
I'm the first to admit that I'm not the best at saying what I think. But I'm also the first one to say that I want to change it.

I've spent through several situations where some people judged me because of the way I see things. With my lack of confidence and my fear of being judged, day after day I left those situations tell me that I shouldn't express my opinions.

I really do struggle to voice my thoughts because I think too much about what people would say about them. I spend a lot of time thinking I'd say the "wrong" thing so I prefer to shut my mouth and don't say a thing.

The main reason to start this blog was to express myself, just say what I wanted to say and share my tastes without the fear of being judged. I can't say I'm already 100% confident, but it's helping a lot and I'm better than I was.
I'm learning and working on just let out exactly what I feel and say what I need to say. Even if it's hard to say and I encourage you to do the same!

I know it may not work every time but I want to stick with it so let's go. Are you with me?

Reminders | It's nice to be nice

Happy Monday!!
I hated Mondays but now I quite like them. And what about you? Do you like Mondays?

Anyway, this week's reminder is about being nice and encouraging kindness.
I'm sure you like when people are nice to you and so do I but how often are you nice? And how often am I nice? How often do you say good morning to random people? Well, I know that I don't do it as much, but I also know that when I do, I feel good. How many times do you smile at someone? I don't do it as much too but when I do, I feel good.

So why not make more nice things? They make me feel good and probably make others feel good too.
I love when people smile at me or when some asks about how I'm doing, but I don't do those things that often because I think that some people may not like it.

I'm constantly thinking how people would react. And if they don't reply to my good morning? And if they find it awkward me smiling to them and they don't smile back? And if someone doesn't want my help?

I've been thinking that I should do these and others things without expecting a positive response. So from now on I'll try to be nice just because I can and if people appreciate it good, if not, well, that's ok.

I'm talking a lot about being nice to others, but it is also (super) important to be nice to yourself. Let's be nice to everyone but also ourselves, because

Simple things like saying 'thank you', holding the door for someone, smiling or treating yourself right, are a way to be nice but we can often forget them (I'm guilty too). But smalls acts of kindness can make a big difference!

So let's all be nice and spread positive acts. Who is in? I'm in!!

Reminders | Love yourself more

*new category alert*

Although no one answered my questions on last post, I've decided to launch this new category because I really want to and I had this post ready do publish so why not?

A new category for the new year that is just around the corner. This category kind of resembles new year's resolutions.

I search a lot for motivational quotes, tips to enjoy life and other similar things but sadly they only affect me for like 1 second and then everything remains the same. I feel lack of motivation to pursue those inspirational quotes but I want to change this situation so 'Reminders' are a way to remind myself that I need to think and act with optimism to keep going, love myself and live my best possible life. I know those things but for some reason I can't put them into practice. So what better time to star something new than in a new year? So let's go, let's prepare to start fresh and have an amazing year!!

This first reminder it's a big one. I think it's the one that leads to the others because everything starts with us. The way we feel about ourselves affects our lives and everything around us so

Why not use this reminder as your mobile background? Or write it on a post-it and read it every morning? I use it as my desktop background so it is the first thing I see when I turn on my PC and I love it.

I'm committed to star this journey of reminders and week by week become a happier person, are you with me? I hope reminders can help you too.

P.s.: check About page to find more about this new category
